What To Wear

**Colors:** Look to nature when choosing the right colours to wear. Shades of white and brown are always safe options. Try to avoid black items, as they can dominate the image and interfere with exposure. Other colours that look great are deep greens and shades of orange, such as mustard, burnt orange, and terracotta. Soft blues are also a good choice. While pink is my favourite colour, it doesn't always photograph well. Things to avoid include loud, vibrant colours and shades that are too similar to your skin tone.

**Patterns:** Avoid busy patterns altogether. Small, closely spaced lines (like tight pinstripes) do not photograph well and can create an odd 3D effect in your photos.

**Things to Consider:**

Diaper covers are highly recommended for kids in dresses, rompers, or any outfit where their diaper might show in photos, especially if they’re moving around!

It’s completely acceptable to change your little ones (especially babies!) into their outfits once you arrive at the location. I've seen many instances where outfits get a bit 'messy'—I can’t tell you how many babies have had blowouts on the way to family pictures! So, it's totally okay (and even recommended) to change your kids or babies once we’re ready to start taking photos.

Choosing clothes that don't crease is ideal; otherwise, ironing becomes essential. Flowing, loose-fitting clothes are generally better than tight or uncomfortable options. Wear what makes you feel most confident. If we're photographing on the beach, going shoeless is encouraged. Embrace your own personality and style, and feel free to bring more than one outfit or backups in case of an emergency. It's important to consider that everyone's outfits should work harmoniously together, but they don’t have to match. We don’t do matching anymore…

If someone wants to wear their favorite Tu-tu or a Superman cape, I’m here for it!
